PSU: Second Hand Thermaltake - Any Good?

Hey fellas,

I’ve attached a link to a second hand Thermaltake 480W powersupply… the guy is selling it for Rs. 2500… about 55$… 10 months ols I guess.

Do you think it’s worth it? or am I going to be over paying?

BTW… there isnt any warranty left on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

^^Ask him for the specs… if its the one with 17A on 12V, avoid it :P.

Hmmm… well it is with a Single 12v Rail.

PurePower Power Supply Series- 480W

I’ve got the A8N-E and about 4 HDD’s… graphics isnt big for me… it’s really a shitty card… Radeon X300.

So would this be a good choice? or do I go with the Powersafe?

^^Crap PSU… get a second hand vantec ion2 instead.

Thsi is the one u said na- http://www.techenclave.com/forums/fs-thermaltake-480w-power-supply-78361.html

Silent PurePower Series, Serial ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment),
Peak Output : 550W, adjustable manual fan speed control in the front
and rear side of the case. (from 1300 rpm at 25C~ 4800 rpm at 90C),
Temperature Automatic Fan Speed Control, Noise : 17 dBA at 1300 rpm,
45 dB at 4800 rpm, Dual fans power supply, Xaser badge on side panel,
Done 9 Months. Free 20 to 24 Pin Convertor for Socket 939 & latest mobo.

Preferably avoid the Thermaltake- Basically a 20 pin (old design) psu- needs 20>24 pin convertor!!
Preferably, Go for any newer model (V2.0 or more) psu, with 24pin main mobo connector default!!:cool2:

Yep… that’s the one… guy lives right opposite to where I stay… well just a few blocks away.

Now I gotta look around for somebody selling a Vantec…
Thanks fellas.

BTW… Any particular reason why this PSU sucks other than the fact that it doesnt have a Dual 12v rail?.. oh and ofcourse the fact that it is only 20 pin instead of 24 pin… how does that matter though?
