This is just a heads up for those of you who frequently download using BT and use either uTorrent or Azureus. They’ve released recent versions that some consider to be a security risk, as they send packets of data back to the program makers that contain info about you (your total UL stats, your total DL stats, and your ISP name/info).
I’ll just use the words of an Admin’s post from bitmetv:
In short. Don’t upgrade to Zudeo OR uTorrent 1.6.1… and I recommend starting to look for a new client.
In short, this mean jack to Indian users, our speeds don’t allow us to download much anyway, and eitherway RIAA/anti-piracy organizations won’t travel to India to trap someone who downloads 300GB a month (and god knows on what ISP).
For others, this is an alarming news, heck if you’ve been downloading a lot chances are they’ll knock on your doors any second now (J/K).
Those who download plenty should shift to other clients (ABC is a good alt) while this issue gets resolved.
its amazing though, first Azu devs try to cover it up…something has been going on behind, there’s no doubts Bittorrent has been doing the most damage with piracy.
EDIT : MODS - Shift this thread to the P2P section, more people need to read this specially those 1-post noobs in the Invite thread.
I remember that i read on utorrent forums that they are going to support only the latest version so as to make everyone shift to it. ^^Good that i m using old one. Oh btw get real ppl in india hardly download 30-60 gbs per month.
Except for mayb like half a person we’re all on dynamic ips, and they have no bloody way of tracing us all the way here in India… so whole lot of balls to them.
