Check the ones from Logitech and Microsoft. I think there’s a entry level Logitech model at around 1.7~1.8k. May be the prices have come down.,
And i doubt if u’ll get ‘only’ the keyboard. Normally u get a Cordless Desktop - Keyboard + Mouse.
Here’s the official etailer link - Logitechâ„¢ Cordless Desktopâ„¢ EX 111 - white | TheITdepot Shopping
check out Microsoft… they are offering 1 with a price tag of 1699 or may be 1799… (sorry don`t rem the price properly.)

Sorry Saiyan for bumping into your thread but had a similar query for a friend…
My guess is that any kb from logitech or microsoft would be good…
Is there any rechargable kb for about 2k??? Something that doesn’t need battery change…
or can someone tell me how long charge will last with 24X7 usage?? May be i can just use rechargeable batteries…
saiyan :
the cordless keyboards are almost in same price range from all companies. logitech and microsoft are established players.
genius also produces good products. i am using one.
but i have a suggestion instead of spending 1.5-1.7k only on keyboard i think it is more better to purchase a combo at 2.2-2.5k. and it will require only one adapter.
you can catch a review here : http://www.techenclave.com/forums/review-genius-twintouch-luxemate-wireless-slim-76006.html
^^thanks for the review link medpal…a short and sweet review…i guess battery is not going to be a problem then…
So any good kb and mouse from logitech and microsoft should do…
Battery consumption is a problem… I have a Logitech 3000 Cordless Laser Desktop and the mouses rechargeable NiMH batteries last only about a week before I have to charge them again though Logitech mention that the batteries should last 6 months. The Keyboard batteries last about 6 weeks instead of a year they mention. I do not play games and I use the computer not more then 4 - 6 hours daily.
She bought Logitechâ„¢ Cordless Desktopâ„¢ EX 110

and gifted it to me:O
Costed Rs.1750 in delta.
^^ lucky beech congratulations
and since i suggested the Logitech first, how about i get that MX518 as a token of appreciation?
Conrats pal.
I need more cousins like that.
So does that mean i can have ur MX 518- my Chennai Based ‘cuzz’?
well i have this Wireless Optical Desktop Elite
got it for some 2.2k about a year ago
and the batteries last me about 6 months, i use duracell batteries
of course if u use rechargable ones they wont lats long as the rechargeable ones are no good for long time use.
use duracell babies and see how long they last is my suggestion😊
Mate I think its your rechargeble which maybe the problem, try getting new ones..
The Logitech cordless k/b +mouse combo has a very high power consumption. What eazy has posted is about the correct mileage for rechargable batteries.
infact somebody i know was tempted to buy one of these logitech models a few months ago …after spending a small fortune on batteries (8 2500mAH sony + charger) and still getting pathetic response out of it, (even with duracell normal batteries the mouse needs a battery change every 2 weeks !!!) he wants to sell these at a cheap price and switch back to wired microsoft model.
NAH !! the week of use I get with the rechargeables is about OK for them - I checked in the Logitech forums about this.
I cannot afford to buy 4 Duracells every month in case they last only about that much. This is what was mentioned in the Logitech forums.
I like the Logitech Laser MX600 mouse I got with my Cordless Desktop - really nice - fits perfectly in my hands and it has 10 buttons !!! Only thing is that it seems to go to sleep if not touched for 15 secs - but this does not bother me at all as I dont play games.
try switching to MS then
@all,
agree to most of da peeps in here, MS keyboards are no use either! bought myself Wireless Desktop Comfort Edition (now sells by the name Wireless Desktop 4000) about 8 months ago, bought 4 uniross 1300mAH with charger and no use! have to chrage batteries every 3 weeks, otherwise i have to keep the combo and receiver real close! it works better with the energizer Alkalines that came bundled with it! (yes they are old, but still they work better!!!)
so i concluded, useless to use rechargeable batteries, (even 2500mAH sony ones! as the mAH rating increases, so does the charging time!!), useless to use expensive Alkalines (changing every month or so!) HENCE THIS ALL CORDLESS THING IS USELESS! BUY WIRED PIECES MY FRIENDS!!!
What exactly is the problem if you have to recharge the batteries every 3 weeks. I mean when you go to sleep put them in the charger..next morning they are fresh…
Nope I am using logitech mx duo since 3 years & have changed the KB battery 2 times as yet (I think its due for a change) & mouse last atleast 10/15 days with 12x7 use with sony or chamelion rechargeble & with the quick chargers now available, its recharged in 1 hour max… dont see the problem..
Which charger are you using ? Where can I get it ? I got a Sony charger with Sony 2300mAH batteries and it take 3 hours to recharge 2 batteries and 6 hours for 4 batteries
buy a chamelion ultra fast charger, its also got auto cut-off so you dont have to bother about over charging & ruining your bats…1/2 hour to 1 hour …just keep 4 rechargebles…2 in the mouse & 2 ready in the charger…no hassles.. in fact with above charger you get 2500x4 & it can also charge AAA
infact I start the charger as soon as my mx700 starts blinking red & by the time they run out the other 2 are ready…
