references to pirated stuff - is it not really allowed in TE????

Recently one of my posts, giving details of where u can get pirated DVD was deleted by MOD.

Hi gmano,

The post that you created in the following thread has been deleted

Post ID: ^^ You can get them in Burma Bazar, chennai. Sometime back I…
Thread: WTB:Home Alone Series/Boxset
Reason: er.. no references to pirated stuff pls

This is an automated message, please do not reply.

Regards,
TechEnclave Staff.

I am confused now, are u people, not really allowing discussing about pirated stuffs here?

then what are all the threads like this doing here??

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/torrent-invitation-thread-post-here-invites-71923.html

almost the p2p section is flooded with these kind of torrents site invite, to make it worse, the above mentioned thread is a sticky. Do you mods really don’t know that these torrents share only pirated stuffs 99.99999 % of the time??

If discussions about the illegal things are not allowed in here, why these kind of threads are allowed and made sticky??? why the discussions like how to cheat the customs department of Indian government while importing from abroad are allowed here??? (do you guys think this is legal?)

what I have mentione in my post was only the name of an area in Chennai, everyone from chennai knows it. There are about 400 shops in that area, 90 % of them selling only pirated DVDs, nothing else, even Government turns a blind eye to it. This is fact.

There is a lot of legal stuff shared through torrents and by authentic channels (Ex: linux distributions) and theres nothing illegal about the torrent sites or file formats. But once you go specific and point to a torrent related to a pirated software or talk about pirated software in general, it becomes illegal.

Wait for the mods to clarify further…

^^ Most of the torrent sites discussed here and invitation requesting threads are all only sharing pirated stuffs, it can not be denied.
Sites like bwtorrents, desitorrents, oink, hdbits, demonoid, etc etc are all only sharing pirated stuffs only, How many posts and threads are started discussing, requesting invitation to those site, are they not talking about pirated stuffs??

i think he is right in saying that TE takes partial behavior in this… if you really don’t allow illegal stuff, then there is no question of discussing torrent sites… all the stuff (i hope 99.99 = 100 % in practical terms…) on torrents sites is illegal… TE should clear out its policy on this…

^^ That’s not the point Lord Nemesis is trying to make. When people ask for invitations to these sites they are not saying “Hey I want to get some pirated movies, help me get them”. Even though these sites might have nothing but pirated stuff most of the time, such inquiries are not taboo unless the person directly asks for warez or expresses his intent to download only that.

Neither will anyone here state that the ISO of such-and-such game is available at such-and-such site..

I’d like to second Vula4n… The use of torrents solely depends on what user wants…

^ Exactly. When someone wants an invite to a tracker, let them download what they want. You cannot compare them as they are not direct references to pirated stuff.

^^ so you mean to say that if I provide a link thats ok with TE, but I should not tell it in words??? I hope, this wont be the attitude here. It is obvious that all these torrent sites share only piratd stuffs, the discussions on the same is allowed here.

Then again its not just about posting about pirated stuffs, its about wether TE is allowing discussions about illegal things like bittorrrents for sharing pirated stuffs, buying pirated DVDs and also talking about cheating the Indian government by not paying customs and import duty to our government, undervaluing the prducts, etc etc. All these are illegal. are we not discussing about them here in TE?? how many of US have posted such posts, yes we all have done it. Then why there is partiality??

what are you trying to defend dude??
is it allowed here to give an indirect reference to pirated stuffs?
direct or indirect, its illegal. Keep it in mind.
when you ask an invite for desitorrent, what does it mean? it means you want pirated movies and music. Can you show me a single tracker in that site, whihc is not pirated?? (desitorrent is just an example, almost all the sites people have asked invites are like desitorrents only).

on that note , undervaluing products to avoid customs is against the law so if anyone finds any posts discussing the same please do bring it to the attention of the mods. this was already mentioned in a thread last time.

and mano afaik , even though torrents have illegal products it was decided last time that it was ok to link to a torrent site. we dont allow links that explicitly to point to a pirated product. a technicality i know but still..

I don not believe that TechEnclave.com’s policies and rules in this regard are hard to understand. According to it -

Warez is strictly banned. This includes keygens' / key generators’ and ‘cracks’, or how to obtain or install them. This can include information on how to bypass, circumvent any software or operating system’s security protocols. Do not ask for help on installing configuring any help with game cracks. We do not recommend or promote using them and will not provide support for them.

Discussions on Torrents and P2P etc. in itself aren’t illegal. Its true that torrents can be used both legally and illegally. However, we always encourage our members to stick to the legal usage of torrents and other P2P networks. Once they obtain an invitation to any bit-torrent site, we obviously can’t monitor what they do with it or how they use it. Its better left to his/her own judgment.

For any other discussions which are non-tech but are held at TE, we can’t have rules for them. If you feel they are illegal in any sense, just hit the report link and let our moderators know of the same. In which case, the mods will take appropriate action.

I can’t understand whats going on in this forum… why are we fighting against mos… sure they r ppl like we r… but they can’t keep an eye on each and every post… its our responsibility to bring to their notice if something’s wrong…

neways… coming back to the point … giving a link to a torrent site and giving the address of where actually the pirated products are available is completely different… u r spreading the piracy by giving the location… instead of informing the officials that somethings wrong going on there…
but humans tend to attract to those where they get it easily… why would someone spend 2k on a PS2 DVD when u can get it for 50 bucks!!

Just my 2cents

nd no offence intended…

Kauzy…

this thread is getting interested…

so here is one more point…

those people favoring TE policy on torrents, just ask any major film, or music, or software company, about these torrents site, that would they like to spread the name of these sites so that more and more people may know them… ? all of them will reply in unison… NO…

for sure this policy of TE is biased… just bcoz u are not actually referring to the pirated product doesn’t justify this policy…

you are still increasing the spread of piracy indirectly…

its not that i am against torrents, but this partial and biased policy of TE is definitely objectionable and in a sense AMUSING…

Our stance on this issue is said above.
No change in rules with respect to warez as of now. If there are any then we shall notify of the same.

Thread Closed.

It was AMUSING that cyneuron should choose to reply to this thread, till i found this:

It appears people are more interested in “settling scores” rather than being genuinely inclined towards helping frame the rules in a better way!
