My trusted old logitech z-680 subwoofer seems to have developed a snag. It makes crackling sound/crackles when anything is played, earlier it was not noticeable but now has become more prominent and is becoming disturbing. I am connecting it to my PC via coax.
Its coming from the sub when there is any bass played, crackling sound like those old casette players/amplies filled with carbon when u turn the volume knob.
Any good electronics/music shop in delhi who can repair it ?
Is it out of warranty ? The same thing happened to my altec 251’s sub , the internal circuit board was replaced with a new one th their service centre. Go to a logitech service centre and get it checked out.
Its out of warranty. I am not sure if they would be able to replace the internal circuit board or if the board would be available. When I first bought the speakers, the woofer conked off after abt 2 months and they had to replace the entire set, but anyways let me check with them.
if the problem is via coax(ie a dying decoder) , then chances are that only the authorized guys can fix it. Is it present when you play even at low volumes ? what about when you play via analog ?
It happens when I connect through both coax and optical, does not seem to be a problem with the decoder as it coming only from the sub. The crackling dissappears when I turn down the volume of the sub to zero. Haven’t tried with analog yet.
