After Hitachi and Seagate, Samsung is the latest company to bring a 1TB hard drive. Although there hasn’t been any big announcement, the new drive will be something special, not only because of its capacity, but due to the 3 (three) 334 GB platters which enable that certain storage space. The new platters simply laugh in the face of Hitachi’s 200 GB and Seagate’s 250 GB discs and set a new record when it comes to 3.5" platter capacity.
Nicknamed SpinPoint F1 HD103UJ, the new drive spins its platters at 7200rpm, it features the SATA 3.0Gbps interface and returns an average read seek time of 8.9ms…

HOLY MOLY…how the heck did that happen

Hell Yeah…
Show me some benchies…
This makes the max storage on a single HDD we can have now at 334*5 = 1.6TB if Samsung wishes to…freaking amazing (5 platters is the max that are used these days, that may change though)
^^ mostly they have already been reduced in the anticipation of these products, when these are launched prices may or maynot reduce, but if they do, it won’t be by a big margin. Prices will ofcourse fall eventually as they always do.
