I was wondering if its possible to have one more member rank with previleges like no timeouts for post edits, deleting own post.etc. Basically giving more liberty to mature forum members. These silly restrictions are meant for n00bs and troublemakes and is a hindrance for mature members. It could be based on mods discretion or post count or reps.
TIA.

Nice suggestion if indeed possible, especially for the Hot Deals section…
^ Well there was something called Elite member which bascially meant these members had their private section, dunno if it exists now.
But seriously, we have been asking for a long time and its high time TE implemented something like this, all the major forums have it (like XS has the X.I.P.'s and so on), members who have been here for a long time helping out people selflessly deserve some basic credit.
I don’t see where it would be useful
silly restrictions are irritating at times, maybe the few mature members can have a little more freedom, and the mods+admin can decide who all can have the privileges. A member can request it, and they can either accept or deny the request as they find fit.
Yes. I’m all for this. Give the veteran members to the ability to type 3 letter posts, delete posts, remove edit time limitations, etc.
editing yes , deleting no . after all everyone has to be held accountable . 10 char limit , timeout for editing post , these can be changed i guess .
I believe that having such “Rights” may just be counter-productive. After all lets not forget there were a number of so-called “Senior” members who did not do themselves justice in the recent kat man dude episode.
In anycase the Mods have been doing a good job to clean up behind some of us…Common guys …Do you want them just twiddle their thumbs…
you can pay and become a premium member

Me against editing posts after the 1hr limit.Ppl will goback on what they said and in case of the market section,it can be disastrous.
But i suggest 3 letter searches and minimum time gap bitween searches reduced to something like 10-15 seconds instead of the present 30 seconds.
Im a member of several other forums and none of them have edit-timeouts. Havent had any problems there. If this previlege is limited to senior members then I dont see any problems. Going back on what they said will lead to a bad reputation invariably. Thats a far greater punishment than what the mods can give.
@greenhorn, I dont see the delete posts/edit timeouts in the previleges for prmium members.
@darknight, These previleges should be granted on a per-member basis. And in case any members are found misusing these priveleges, it can always be revoked. So I dont see why anyone will misuse it. And this fear itself might lead to self control.

naaah… it has been withdrawn.
We are at the moment not accepting Premium Membership requests. However, in the future when we allow the same, we shall notify all by an announcement.
As far as the editing posts features go, especially for a limited number of people or handselected people, In my personal opinion its not a good idea. The fact remains that those who are, infact given the privilage will be happy. However, those members who are not given the privilage will argue about it and be unhappy. This will cause unrest among the members. I dont quite think it is a feasible idea.
However, we shall discuss this and let you all know about the same.
PS: The above is my personal opinion and is not an official statement.
^ Well even I don’t support those ideas, but the so-called Senior members could perhaps have a custom tag or private section (etc, etc, if you get my flow) as a tribute to their dedicated community service over the few years TE has been active.
how about removing the premium button from the top?
They dont need to be unhappy or revolt. They just need to bother a mod to get it edited. Im happy that you are dicussing this issue with the staff. Thanks a lot for your consideration.
Raghu.
I can’t recall any time I was so desperate to edit my posts. So I’m still not sure of the need for this distinction.
Maybe not a public distinction, but being able to edit own posts, edit the thread titles, lesser wating times of say 15 seconds to search and post and 30 seconds to PM.
Also they need not revolt, make the system automatic, anyone with say 5000 posts AND 5000 Rep points gets these features. The mods can remove these features from the user if they misuse it.
I too will go for pvt section becoz…i was thinking for a seperate place for seniors where they can share there torrent invitations and all becoz p2p section is totally under google newbie stuff…
Honestly the only section where need of editing posts is really necessary is the GO. But that cant be done withing doing it all over the forum. That was clarified a while ago by admins.
And honestly there is no need to edit silly typos. Most of the times everyone is able to figure it out. And this is a tech forum and not your english exam paper. Few typos here and there does not cost anyone anything.
ANd you can always go through your post once quickly.
In case of guides and tutes, you can ask mod to fix the problems.
There is no special private section for anyone anymore from what I know. The so called elite section was closed due to prolonged low activity in that section long time back.
Members are already getting rewarded with custom tags for MOTM and ROTM. Even toscars are there now.
Yes 3 letter search would be nice as many times search cannot be done properly due to this limitation.
Thread subject/title change permission is also harmless. But editing power have caused problems in almost every big online forum in the past. And this includes some big names like AT and g3d. The fact that you are not aware of it does not mean it has never created issues there in the past. There was big flamewar on G3D in the days of FX5800 launch and this editing permission was abused very badly there as well.
Every forum faces this issue sometime if users are allowed to edit their posts.
And I know many are sensible enough, but its those few who can create problems others have to suffer as well for the good of community and to maintain some sort of discipline here.
