both the meida are good. Verbs are better DL i think . TY are equally good but i doubt that these ppl ship to india.

I would buy them in US :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes, both of them are great brands… media will definitely be High Quality.

Cheaper at RIMA.com i think..

RIMA is cheaper, however supermedia store offers free ground shipping which makes it cheaper tham rima.

Plus supermedia store accepts international credit card, but rima does not.

I hope you noticed that the TY you linked to isn’t DL media

Also from what I know, the 8x TY discs are surprisingly better than the 16x discs!

Yup, the TY are DVD5. I am planning to buy the Verbatim DL and the TY DVD-R 4.7GB.

The reason why I am thinking of 16x, so that I can burn it at 8x speed.

Well before TechHead comes here and reprimands you for that statement (hehe), let me repeat what he always advises - buying 16x media and burning it at 8x for “better burn quality” is a fallacy ! The best way to become a believer is to try it out for yourself

I have tried 16x TY discs and can confirm that the burn quality is noticeably worse at 8x - and lower speeds - than at 16x (I have however noticed it to improve a bit at just a notch below i.e. 12x, but definitely not at 8x).

Its all about the Media ID. The 8x MID is stated to be better than the 16x discs.

^THANK YOU!
Yep, the 8X -R discs especially, are excellent. That said, the 16X -R discs seem to have slightly elevated PIE, but are EXCELLENT, stability wise, when burned at 16X or 12X.

@TechHead, does that theory of 16x media not to b burnt at 8x hold for MBPro discs as well? just wanted to know. ( i thought burning at half the discs rated speed was always good  …for data like videos)

^^ This is what TH had to say : http://www.techenclave.com/forums/dvd-media-scans-3959-28.html

^MBPro 16X +R discs are fine at 12X and 16X in my Pio 111. The -R discs suck. Avoid.
