You guys are here to prove/disprove “who” is better??? You’ll never have fun if that’s your general approach to anything… creativity is only limited by your imagination. Someone who needs a theme to be inspired and create something, is not creative at all.

ok for now lets have a open theme maybe next time we can try restricting it. will create a poll at the end of the month and we can choose the best one. lets not be too critical here and keep this as a trial run . am cleaning the earlier comments and please lets stick to submissions alone henceforth
sounds good to me but the 40kb limit for the sig of the month contest seems stupid.. come on u have the limit on TE doesnt mean u gotta do it for the contest.. it jacks up the quality of the sig.. makes it look ugly :@ :@

and i think u missed out on an important rule, the member’s name shud be on the sig!! (for obvious reasons)

considering that at times there are 30-40 posts on a single page i think the 40kb limit is fine rather not have 1mb plus downloads for each page on my lame connection
I must say, i agree with bottle…think of the number of posts on a single page and if every sig is allowed to be 100kb, it’ll load like a sloth..
I think 40kb is fine for sigs..if u optimize the jpegs/gifs properly, u can reach a decent compromise between quality and file size…
bottle its understandable tht the 40kb limit is there on TE in general. but its not so acceptable in case of the sotm…
sigs will be judged by people on its looks! and if u reduce the size it makes them look ugly.. so i think for the sotm atleast tht rule can be relaxed..
come on.. our goal is to make good looking sigs which sometimes go up to 80-100kb with animation, not some shit sig thts 40kb.
dont says stuff like its a challenge, cuz its not its just stupid. its like telling some one to go on a race with a lambo but only with 1liter of petrol!! how is tht ever gonna add up??
i dunno abt the others but i jus cant screw up the quality of the sig to make it fit in 40kb.

Optimize and/or cut out the animation in your current sig, which is 2x over the allowable limit.

I’m afraid I have to agree with the 40kb rule, it would seem that it’s part of the challenge. Given no restrictions on size, one could do almost anything they wanted… I think part of being being able to stand out as a graphic artist, is being able to make your art work within the confines of the requested output. Sorry … but since this is a competition within TE, it seems that TE’s regular rules should apply
but the 40kb limit also indirectly means no animated sigs.. 
C’mon, you were able to reduce your current animated sig from 2x the size to under 40kb without losing much detail, so it is possible Past signature contests had the same rules btw, and I think I’m going to submit one of my old signatures just for fun lol.
