Is there any software that can directly convert *.mkv and *.ogm files directly to *.avi with support for dual audio and optional subtitles present in the original mkv and ogm files?
I used Mediacoder and winavi. With that I can only rip one audio and have to either discard the subtitle or make the output file hardsubbed. Also the video becomes pixelated.
P.S.: I don’t know if avi file can hold 2 audio streams and subtitles. I will rip the subtitles to an srt file if required. I want to play these files on my divx player.
My problem isn’t that I am unable to convert mkv and ogm to avi. My problem is that I can only select one audio stream and even on selecting original resolution and fps the video quality gets degraded. Srt will be the best option for making subtitles optional.
@Quad Master: I already mentioned that I used winavi and mediacoder for conversion. I even tried Imtooencoder.
Isn’t there a simpler solution for making a dual audio avi. A simple drag & drop solution thatwill perform the same opertaion on all files in queue.
I want to convert more than 85 episodes of 2 animes in mkv and ogm. This it will take a lot of time.
Is there a way to make a dual audio avi file using mediacoder insteading of ripping just one audio at a time. Also how do I stop the image quality from getting pixelated after conversion to avi.
I am actually in the middle of doing a tutorial on converting mkv to avi… so hold on a bit… I put up a tutorial for hard coding subs using the same software, (VirtualDub) so you could easily combine the 2 of them.
I’ll look for tips & tricks for mediacoder in forums.
@Quad Master: Can you give a few more details. Suppose I use lame mp3 in Media coder while converting the initial mkv or ogm file to avi. Will it have to be the same while using nandub / virtualdubmod. Will it automatically set the two audio streams as audio stream 0 and audio stream 1? Also is there a possibility of the second audio and video to be out of sync at the final output.

I don’t want to hard code the subs hence I will extract them to a seperate srt file.
You tutorial is gr8 , no doubts but its not for dual audio.
@prabs - many players support “load external audio” and if you name the audio file same as video , when you play that file in media player classic
it will give you options to select the different audio stream , so you dont need to add the 2nd audio file to avi. There is no one step method for creating dual audio files you will have to do it the hard way.
Or there might be some scripts which can be written , but i donno how will it work.
i Found media coder a bit buggy esp when coverting an ogm file with dual audio to avi.I used a tool from source forge, preety straight forward OGM to AVI: A Simple Conversion Utility
