I am thinking buying a Hard Disk in 2 or 3 days.
I have three option in my mind
2.Seagate 300Gb SATA-II with 16Mb cache (ST3300622AS)
3.Seagate 250Gb SATA-II with 16Mb Cache (ST3250624AS)
Dont know the price of the last two drives.
My Budget is Rs.5300/- (Not even Rs.1 more than thatš³ )
So which one can i go for:)
me and regnade got the 250Gb 16mb sata2 for 4.4k
i say get that Seagate 300Gb SATA-II with 16Mb cache for 5.1k 
AFAIK, Chaos told me the Seagate 300GB SATA-II has dropped to around 5.3k in Bālore.
^^yesterday he told me he is getting it for 5.1k. But i dont know the price of it here.
P.S. My main concern is out of those 3 HDDs i want to know which one is better in speed, warranty(Seagate i know) and shouldnāt have any sort of problem.
Hard drive prices are rather fluctuating based upon demand. Iām getting the drive delivered to my office today for 5.2K which is an okay price IMO.

300Gig 16Mb cache is Rs.5500/- in delta, 250Gb no stock.
So shall i settle for 300Gb(Will have to put Rs.200 bux more:()

Saiyan, go for seagate worth it.
Cache : Seagate - 16 MB, Hitachi - 8 MB.
Avg Seek Time : S - 8 ms, H - 8.5 ms.

Saiyan go for the 300GB Seagare SATA 2 HDD costs only for 1k more than the 250GB & gives 41GB more formatted capacity.
41GB more for 1k more only

I trust Seagate & Western Digital only.
not always.. most of the 250gig here are 8mb only its by chance that me and regnade got the 16mb

250gig is 4.4 and 300gig is 5.5 (in delta) so is the extra 50gb worth paying 1k more :juggle:
He said 250GB is not available in Stock all over chennai. He said 300Gig will b available on Friday. Also said me can try to get the 8Mb Cache HDD, if thats the case i can very well go with Hitachi.
Edit:Can anyone tell me what are the advantage in Hitachi over Seagate???
WD has a 16 MB model as well, forget the model no. That seems good too..
Also the samsung 250 gig model seems faster than typical samsungs.. T7K 250 is a good drive based on other TE membersā¦ Itās what I have settled on so far..havenāt bought though.. so this thread wil help me too

Seagate 300GB SATA2, 16MB - 5525/-
These are a bit on the higher side as these are normally not kept in stock and had to be procured from the suppliers in delhi. I am myself going for 300 GB Drive
Sandy, with my 250gb Hitachi (new one) , formatted comes to 233GB . is this a mistake or alright? I doubt it varies with each manufacturer , thats why this question . I formatted using 7Tools Partition Manager ā¦

LOL 1GB in normal memory terms is 2^30. ā1GBā in hard drive terms is 10^9 or one billion bytesā¦ so obviously thereās gonna be a discrepancy.
its not about that . Sandy quoted 238GB and my drive formatted capacity as 233gb . so āobviouslyā there can not be any difference between our drives in terms of formatted capacity . unless Iām wrong

Hey GUYS !!! I have just now come back from Prime with a Hitachi 250GB SATA II HDD paid 4650/- for this HDD ā¦ not yet installed itā¦ doing so nowā¦ see you laterā¦ I dont run Benchies so dont ask me about its speed
