Micro-Star International (MSI) has been talking about bringing the Apple-embraced EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) to desktop PCs for quite some time and it is now when we can finally say we have results. MSI has now released an update for its Intel P45-powered P45D3 Platinum motherboard which enables Click BIOS, an UEFI-based pre-OS environment which offers:
-
support for graphical menus and features
-
a mouse-controlled interface
-
supports for pre-OS applications like games, media players, browsers and more
-
support for LAN activating environments
-
multi-language support
Those willing to try out a reasonably different alternative to the aging BIOS can download the EFI-loaded Click BIOS update for the P45D3 Platinum from this page. Owners of P45 Diamond and P45 Platinum motherboards will also be getting Click BIOS functionality through BIOS updates which will be released next month. MSI might be taking baby steps with this but it’s nice to see it is moving forward.
