Me too. Though I don’t have much of a collection.
Hmmm…I’m rather possessive about my books.
Me and my friends ( 10-12 of them ) manage a private book club here in Mumbai. Usually we meet once in a while, mostly 10-15 days apart at my place or my friend’s place in Andheri to exchange the books or we have a account with Vichare couriers and ship books to each other which gets delivered same day for low cost of Rs.9 / -
The total collection is well over 500 books. And we are doing this for past 7 years.
If anyone from mumbai is interested then they are welcomed to join in. Our next meet is at andheri Link road on 13th july.
If TE people wants to start something like this then it can be done. But someone needs to take responsibility of managing it and keeping track of books.
If there are 20-30 people from all around India, this can be done. Take mass courier account with a courier company like AFL / DTDC / Firstflight and use same account to ship books. Total amount can be collected quarterly.
Lets first see how many people are interested.
Same here. but its mutual understanding. When u give someone else your book, you have someone else’s book too. And atleast my experience with this group has been good so far. I put proper covers over my books. And I have nice canvas bags for some of the rare books that i have ( some really old DC comics and Chandoba if anyone remembers. From 1960s belong to my dad

popular books can be easily found on roadsides and 2ndhand bookstores for <100
cost of courering the books will be comparable to that so it only makes sense for specialised/etc books
anyway, my scifi/fantasy collection is open for ‘business’ and its the only thing i value more than my comp so you better be careful

Am not sure about the exchange thing across cities. In city maybe, after I meet the person/people I am exchanging the book with. Have usually had bad experiences with lending of books. Maybe an exchange will guarantee they are retuned in one piece.
OT @nukeu666: Brilliant series. Have you read book 5 and the short stories? They are making a mini series out of it even. (Though I am a bit dissapointed you put that soap opera of a series and Leguin in the same post. :()

I have a decent collection of 100-170 Novels…
Most of them were lend out to family/friends
damm most never bothered to return untill i demanded… few misplaced it couple of em reloaned it to their friends n friends…
All of my books are original…

I found books 1,2 and 3 used at Blossoms Bangalore. They always seem to have used copies of earthsea series. (Spotted multiple copies.) So you could ask someone in Bangalore. Books 4,5 and the short stories I found new, hardbound for about 175 bucks each at Gangarams, and Oxford book store in Mumbai.
