The Great upgrade confusion

Like many people out there,I am upgrading. Going for a p5q deluxe. With that, I would require to upgrade rams and processor. My confusions are as follows:

  1. most probably going for Intel e7200. Are there any specific steppings I have to look for?
  2. planning to go for OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision 2 Dual Channel model no: OCZ2P800R22GK.
Just wanted to know if people have good feedback about this ram. Planning to get it from phoenix. Also wanted any other advise as well. Budget for the proccessor is 7k and for the 2gb kit is for 3k.
Edit: What’s the different between p5q-e and p5q deluxe…other then the price :stuck_out_tongue:

if u have to patience to hunt for RAM get the Transcned with PSC chips nd the Brainpower pcb.

you can identify them as guided by Supra in nikhil’s show off thread(the ferrari wala thread)

otherwise, get the GSkill GBPQ from Prime for arnd 2.4k. again the same PSC chips. very good for medium level ocing.

+1 to the e7200. wait for funky nd others to post on the stepping

^^ well…in comparison with transcend and the g skills you posted, is it worth the extra moolah for g skills compared to transcend? One difference I have seen is p5q-e is ASUS 8-phase Power Design and deluxe is 16. Is it worth for 2k extra btw!!
In regards to the processor, the steppings are m0 in SLAVN and SLAPC product codes. Correct if I am wrong, but I dont know much about Intel and I will really appreciate if I can get some advise.

as long as you have the patience, go with the transcends.. you’ll just need to look around a bit.

Supra nd Nikhil seem to have found them pretty easily enough.

if you wanna avoid all that hassle(keeping in mind we dont exactly know how much of a hassle it is).. just get the GSkills.

i would suggest that you stick with the P5QE.. dont think ur gonna be going in for any extreme ocing and all.

for day to day usage, it should more than suffice for you. save the extra cash.

Will take g skills if I dont get those transcend with psc chips, just need to make up my mind about p5q pro and deluxe and need to research about the steppings

Guys will really appreciate some help here :frowning:

jus get the cheaper p5q :stuck_out_tongue:
