Torrents and RS

Well , i took a 5Net connection recently, and have been getting great speeds (around 800kbps-1.5mbps) constant on ftps and https. Now i have a small problem. The torrents are limited . :frowning: I get max 20-30kbps these days, even with private trackers. I have tried encryption also. the same goes for RapidShare downloads . i get similar speeds there too even though i hav a premium a/c and use flashget to download the stuff. So i think the limiter is on the ISPs side. Is there anyway to bypass these limits ???

found another thing..if i start flashget and start 4 RS.com files at once, one of them gets thru and gives me 600-700kbps downloads…still dont understand wats happening..MDS can merge this post if they want

you mean kBps? In torrents try increasing the max no of global connections, connections per torrent etc.. maybe you’r not getting connected t high bandwidth peers.

Phoneix , is your port forwarded properly?

yea…it is kbps or kBps wateva.its the speed flashget shows while downloading …dont worry, its a high bandwidth conn, arnd 5mbps(MBps)…i tried increasing everything…also i hav checked on GRC’s Shields up service, the port shows open…i use the 6882 port for the torrent…tried other ports too..but what abt Rs ?? that shudnt be affected na ???

dude, there’s a difference between bps(bits per second) and Bps(bytes per second) and, one byte is equal to 8bits…
connection speeds are usually measured in terms of kbps/mbps…a connection of speed about 2mbps provides a max download speed of 250kBps… try to download any heavily seeded torrent and u can check the max download speed u can get…

^ like Openoffice torrents

arrey dont worry guys…my speeds are what they shud be.i know the difference…ok let me put this clearly…the download speed i get is 800kbps (hope the b is rite).it takes me arnd 15-20mins for a 700Mb movie to download. but on torrents it is 20kbps or lesser usually. same on RS.

tried dat too…Torrent : 20kbps , RS : 15kbps , HTTP: 890kbps…
So god help me

am sorry to tell u that u got it wrong again this time…
anyway, check whether ur uttorrent connectons r allright(whether ports r forwarded properly or not; if they r proper, u get a green circle with a tick inside) if the incoming connections r proper, then vary the upload speed, if not try to go for much seeded torrents…

k…sorry if i got the capitals wrong…:D…i did…he circle is green , with the tick, i used the chk conn link in the UTorrent setup…i tried a torrent with 200 seeds…still no luck..also the upload speed doesnt go up beyond 2k … i havnt limited the Up speed…is that the prob ??? is the ISP capping he up speed ??? ne way to chk that??? also , what about RS ???

i dono about RS, if u can download at greater speed from flashgot, then i don’t think there is any problem with the connection…

check whether u have enabled sheduler in utorrent, if not, reset ur utorrent settings and restart the application… try to keep the upload limit at about 35kbps, enable encryption, i hope u get better…if not, there might be some problem with ur sharing ratio…

yea…actually i am new at demonoid…so sharing ratio hasnt been reset.i tried public torrents with 100+ seeds, still nuthing…have enabled encryption too..
:frowning:

did u try resetting ur utorrent settings?

ya…have even tried other clients like botcomet and all.but still nuthing…

u r getting good speed with flashgot right? try once again downloading something from flashgot now, if u r getting slow speed here, then there might be some problem with ur isp…i think this might be the only reason..

last suggestion from my side…if u r getting good speed from flashgot, then uninstall the utorrent client and reinstall it…

even if this couldn’t help, i can’t help it… feeling sleepy…

Tried that too…chk this out…

as u can see, the green tick is there showing the port is ok, and u can compare the speeds also, so theres no confusion in the “b” nd the ‘B’…

^ try using a better private tracker. They generally have better bandwidth. Something like TL, ST, TvT, iP.. etc.. Or almost any HD site..

Sometimes… I too get slow speeds with torrents on the 5Net connection… but never on Rapidshare… I always get 1500kbps from rapidshare premium…

i think sumthing’s wrong…
