Tuniq Tower 120

Hi Guys

Read some reviews on the Tuniq Tower 120

The Tower 120 is a mighty beast. It is 15.5 cm high, and it needs at least a case with 19 cm height. Tuniq claims it is compatible with most cases and motherboards, and since it did fit in my smaller Antec LANBoy case I’m sure it is true. The cooler is pretty heavy at 798g (without the fan).

Inside the huge slab of metal (aluminium and copper) you’ll find a huge 120 mm 9-blade fan. With the cooler you get a fan controller that allows you to set the speed of the fan between 1000 RPM and 2000 RPM. The speed of the fan of course affects the noiselevel and while the fan is rated at 34DB at 200RPm it is rated at just 20DB at 1000 RMP.

With the fan you get a small syringe of high performance thermal grease (Tuniq TX1 Thermal Grease, thermal conductivity: >3.3W/m.K) as well as the pieces needed to attach the fan on various motherboard types including Intel and AMD motherboards.

Just wanted to ask if its available there in Singapore or neighbouring countries.

Funky told me about this amazing heatsink.

Looks nice.

shit!! that`s huge!!! wonder if only those with horizontal cases would use it!!

looks too risky to use it though! :frowning:

Just one reply for this amazing tower based air cooler.

No opinions on it. :frowning:

Its mighty heatsink. All my attempts to get this one from US has failed as its not in stock anywhere. I have mailed the sidewinder guys and got the response that they will try their best. Lets see.

The one actiually outperforms each and every competition out there. Including old time favourites TTBT and SI-120. The issue is availability.

You want opinions? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

  • Very tall

  • Coupled with a fan would almost touch 1Kg

Tall + Heavy = Enormous stress on your motherboard.

Would be good for those looking to extract that last bit of performance from air-based cooling, but i’d sleep better with a lighter heatsink

(@Saiyan : NO, I do NOT sleep with heatsinks  )

IIRC this was the cooler used to overclock the Conroe to 5GHz at XtremeSystems… Must be really good.

But I think this would be good only when it is mounted vertically; such that it is on the motherboard…

This is the Best heatsink available period!

@ mjp, not 5Ghz, Conroes barely touched 5 Ghz, even on LN2 ..

4 Ghz, rather, yes, most people, did it with this…

4 GHz with a air cooler is really amazing.

The machine that makes the Tuniq is broken. So it will take some time for wide availability. Lotsa people are buying the scythe though since this is not found anywhere.

Raghu.

 You are right… Thanks for the correction.

But still, I think 4GHz would be good enough on a Conroe

A Conroe at stock speeds beats the shit out of FX62 and u say a conroe @ 4Ghz is good enough.

Thats a lot of speeeeeeeeed.
