urgent help needed

hi guys,

on friday i had formatted my hdd after a very long time, maybe around 7 months or so, i did so coz the install was old and was not feeling good with the performance of the system. the issue now is that i have installed xp again with all the regular stuff and NOD32 as av, everything working fine untill i install office 2003. when i installed office 2003 with sp1 and sp2, the issue is that one of the svchost is taking too much of my resources and i am unable to use the system untill i kill it. it consumes around 60,000k of mem and about 96% of the cpu.

can any1 help me why am i facing this only with office 2003?

to try to solve this, i also uninstalled and reinstalled it but to no good.

Patch it, even the Service packs wont contain all the patches, download the patches from softpedia or update it online…

Also disable ur NIC and chck if the prob persists…

hey m8,

thanks for replying…been a long time have heard from u…now back to the matter i forgot to mention, i have done microsoft update and have fully updated office 2003, infact have also installed microsoft office 2003 sp2 and all further updates too.

^^ Some other issue then… disable NIC and chck if it happens…

hi,

well its quite inefficient of the ppl posting on this forums to think about a solution which would solve the issue.

i thank aces, @ sahil for comming to my aide but dude the suggestions that u gave didnot help.

however, i have managed to resolve the issue on my own and by upgrading to office 2007 enterprise solved the issue coz what i was installing was office 2003 with sp2 streamlined which has a missing patch which even installing seperately did not help.

Dude thats a pretty lame attitude, this is a public forum where people freely come to give advice. This is not paid tech support, and neither are you a VIP to expect preferential treatment. As also its impossible to expect every query to be answerable. If the people here are so “inefficient” why dint you post this question over at your favourite TechTree??

Finally upgrading to Office 2007 is hardly considered resolving the issue. It is as absurd as buying Vista when your XP install crashes :stuck_out_tongue:

P.s: Is your version of Office 2k3 legit? Since AFAIK there isnt any SP2 slip-streamed edition.

hi,

firstly dude i am no more associated with Techtree…

secondly, yes my version is legit and i myself have slip-streamed office 2k3 with sp2 and it has worked without any issues on my previous install and its jus that this time it started giving troubles,

i know that this is not a place where i should expect tech support and nor any1 around here is paid to do so, i was simply frustrated not able to find a solution as to why was this happening. i simply took a gamble in upgrading to office 2007 enterprise and the gamble paid off coz after install it downloaded updates and solved the issue after the install of updates and reboot.

anyways, thanks to aces and any1 else who has replied to me helping resolving the issue…i mean nothing by the post i had made, was jus a bit furstrated…thats all.
