Vista 64 vs XP 32 bit : Performance

Hi all,

Yesterday i installed vista 64-bit on my box and till now the experience has been quite good. But i have a question, apart from new aero and all if we come down to pure performance … That is gaming, applications and everything else, which is the better OS right now

XP 32 bit or Vista 64 bit.

I have been reading lots of articles on the net and all seem to suggest that XP is better. So please tell me, which one should i stick to ???

Thanks

I say Vista 64bit with:

IMHO Vista > XP simply due to the search and the prefetch features ( i know its not related to gaming - atleast the search isn’t but game load times do improve with prefetch. But the most significant difference is in smaller apps like MS Word, Opera and such stuff.)

Bitween 32 and 64 bit versions, if you have all the drivers and/or can live without some devices not working and/or have more than 4GB RAM, 64bit is the way to go.

My personal opinion: I will use WinXP 64 till a proper Dx10 Games like Crysis, come out, then Vista64 Home, as I don’t need AERO.

if you own stuff of reputed brands then use vista x64 without worries
