I am ruinng out of space on my HDDs as of now… Planning to get one 200-500 GB HDD… What are the current mkt prices as i have no ideas and which ones are considered to be good…

Try and get a 200/400GB Hitachi SATA-II HDD. Not sure about the prices but be prepared to shell out atlest 7-8k

250 and 300 GB SATA II Hitachi models give reasonably good performance and have excellent performance/price ratio.
Above 300 GB, the price increases rapidly..
Disadvantages of two hard disks = more power consumption, more processor utilization, more heat in cabinet, more connectors required..
Advantages = Just one, less chances of failure of both HDDs..
I think i would rather go with the 1 large fast hard disk instead of multiple smaller hdds..

does sata 2 drives r supported on normal sata ports of the mobo???
also wht abt hitachi service centre in mumbai???does they hav any???
my 120gb sata seagate is having errors…and smart test detected soon it will b running in bad sectors…its in warranty after replacing ill sell it…

@ Soulfire, those are prices for SATA-1 hdds. The SATA2 250gb costs around 6.5K
Yep Hitachi 250gb sata 2 is 6.5-6.8k. I’ve got onw and staisfied with the performance.

sata1 yep,sata 2 helps only if u have a sata 2 supp board,i.e. new pc 
i need price of 120gb sata 160gb sata 200gb sata and 250 sata
both 1 & 2 r allowed…
also which company one is best…i have seagate 120gb sata 1 right now…6 months old..and it has developoed bad sectors need to buy 1 b4 replacing this at service centre…
