you may have too many startup items, or maybe one of them is taking too much

Mike Lin’s Home Page

this should help

You did not mention the OS. I’m assuming its xp pro. I doubt its a trojan. Its a rare occurrence the system process takes a long time to load or doesn’t load at all.

Try disabling a few startup items. Disable services like system restore and indexing.
If the situation does not improve..
Your HDD is on its last legs and hence every now and then you face a slowdown.

i’ve had d same number of startup items before also and my pc is around 7 months old..so ders no questions of my hdd gettin spoilt..its really weird ..my os is xp sp 2..1 gb ram

ive never had dis problem before

I think your current windows install is in its last legs. Format and reinstall, and it should be as good as new

i have got a soln for u.

i hope it works for u

try downloading autoruns from sysinternals.

run it while logged in as admin.

now u will see many startup items(probably hundreds)

against their comments “file not found”

right click and delete all those entries

now restart.

waiting for reply

thks a lot mate..it worked..

but der was dis one file dat couldnt be deleted ..it kept sayin’error deletin entry:specifie source does nit exist as installed service.’

and even my startup is real slow man..it too around 30 sec or less wen i first bought d pc but now it takes around 4 min..i tried usin a number of programs to speed up startup but didnt help, hope ur program helps..

but thanks lot mate:clap:

Did you try defragging your disk? Also keep 20% of your drive capacity as free space.

Edit: if you think its a trojan/virus try running an online scanner like kaspersky or a trial version of antivirus software.

u r welcome prince.

defragging helps very little period.

defragging helps and not little by any means.

that is just because u see its immediate effect as very little.

remember compound interest?2: compound interest doubles in 35 years and not in 50 as expected.

thus when when u capy/move a file ur programmes may be fragmented.it is just that u wont see any noticable speed diff after a defrag.

but compare a regularly defragged drive and a not defragged even once drive an u wil know what i mean.

besides modern defraggers like auslogics disk defrag make it job of a couple of minutes.!!!

also ur programmes may get pushed to slower edges of partition(not desired)

thus it is advisable to

1.make different partitions for windows/programmes/data

  1. defrag regularly

  2. dejunk regularly

d problems seems 2 exist still :@ ..ive restarted and d sam thing happens..d desktop doesnt show up for ever🤔 ..i have 2 logoff and log in so dat my dektop is visible and interactable :@

w8in for ur suggestions (no reformattin suggestion:no: )

d prince of noobs

Use CCcleaner to remove unwanted registry entries and temp data.

use kaspersky’s online antivirus to make sure you dont have any trojan or virus.

u can try one different thing

make a new account.

make it similar to ur present “problem” account

eg , admin , wallpaper , my documents , shortcuts etc etc.

try to log into that account.

it shuld not have any problems.if it boots up fast and has no problems , then

sequentially migrate all ur setting/fules to this account.

when satisfied , delete previous account.

one more thing , if those startup items still appear in autoruns then it a trojan/virus.

u may need cleaning then

repair win xp?

download hijackthis and run a scan. post the output log here. It would be easy to pinpoint the problem.
you can download it from Trend Micro HijackThis - Reviews and free Trend Micro HijackThis downloads at Download.com

mate, i tried doin what u told me but smthg weird happened..from the welcome screen it directly took me into admin account instead of me choosing which account i wanted to log into.. i created guest ccount and i that screen wasnt even shown( i mean d screen wer u choose between users)..it directly logged in as admin..
man i have lot of importnat stuff on dis pc mate and my norton 2007 picked upa trojan dat im not able 2 remove..

im goin offf 2 college now ..plzz think abt dis and give me suggestions…
waitin for ur replies

d prince of noobs😊

still havent done wat uve told me 2 do mate..ill do dat after i get back home from coll and tell u wat happens

a lot of important stuff.

and a trojan has been detected.my god u can be in deep waters.

now most imp thing is to keep ur valuable data and then do the cleaning.

boot into a live linux cd rom .

move all ur data to safe place by usb drive or a dvd burner.

i suggest u Main Page - SystemRescueCd

it will read write to ntfs partitions , has antivirus on it too.

so first back up all ur data , then run antivurs .

now ur data safe , u can choose to repair installation or start over by formating hd.

from next time do these.

  1. keep windows fully updated.

  2. keep drivers fully updated.

  3. keep antivirus fully updated and running(antivir/avg)

  4. keep a different firewall (zone alarm / comodo)

  5. keep a signature based antispyware. it will also run in background , keep it fully updated(spyware terminator)

  6. keep hips(signature based is not enough) based antispyware, i recommend threatfire/defence+ in comodo

  7. use only firefox/thunderbird and not ie/outlook

my advice would be take either of these antivir/avg

then have comodo firewall

it has hips built in(defence+)

man i have to warn u that comodo is not for noobs. join its forums , read about it as it is a very highly complex and configurable piece of software. it even puts commercial solutions to shame(norton internet security)

but once u get a hold of comodo , ur windows will be as rock solid as it can be

or better try moving to ubuntu all togather and stop living in constant fear

Hijackthis shows various dlls and exes that are installed in the computer. you get suspicious about any, just search that exe/dll in the net and you can find if that thing is legit or not. you will find cleaning procedures for almost all the types of viruses, be sure to download the process explorer from here. Process Explorer

using hijackthis, internet and process explorer; you can clean up almost any type of virus.
