The situation is this. Just happened to search mininova and it turned up 4 interesting torrents of my all time favourite artist, and these are overdubs. vocals of earlier recordings with different instrumentation. sort of like a remix. Now this is an artist who’s died in 1964, and nobody wants to buy his recordings nowadays , let alone seek old bootleg versions. Now these songs are superb. I want them, and i want them badly. as much as I wanted my first PC. I’ve sworn to god that I’d forsake all pr0n for a month if I can get hold of the whole thing.
So here I am, with 4 torrents , each stuck at 30-70%, in varying stages of download , listening in frustration to parts of songs which keep skipping. Cant helpf feeling thankful for what I’ve gotten, Yet cant stop longing for the whole thing. Posted on minimova where i found them. the guy who seeded them is still active there, but there is no way for me to contact him directly.
If i could have bought this , i would. But this was never released on CD. And i cant find anything but the torrent despite all my googling.
Cant help feeling frustrated, so posting here. Anything i can do ?
the stuff is pretty rare, trust me . I have pretty much every song he’s released.Mp3’s from His 16 CD Bear CD box set, 2x4 CD sets of his radio recordings , one documentary, one crappy movie he acted in, him live at the grande ole opry and oslo norway. I doubt if any of you guys have heard of him, let alone have his music
small update. after leaving my PC on continuously for a week, I’m feeling much better. two torrents completed - one of them finished just now - it had been at 98.5 % all week, then @ .1kbps over a few hours finished the thing.
It had been a testing time , both for me an my recently repaired ubuntu install. it had to endure many unplanned restarts due to powe losses when I was away. did have some GDM issues along the way as well.
two more are left, one at 92% , and another at 80% . Feeling much better now , and thanks to all the anonymous good samaritan seeders
What you can do is search for the latest torrents he has been active in, and ask him to reseed..search for his torrents and arrange them by date..
Similarly, if he’s active in other sites like the bay, do the same thing there..
Also, try torrentz for searching..
Also just copy the name of the torrent and google for it, with torrentz attached at the end..Might prove usefull..
Torrentz gives a list of all the trackers, copy paste them into your torrent client..Might help get a few seeders..
Other than this, you can also try the imageshack torrent downloading service here-> ImageShack®
instead of wasting your bandwidth, waste their’s…
You may hav tried one or all of these..Just kept them in one place for future reference for anyone who searches for the same later on..
heh.I just said pr0n, there is a lot of other stuff that does just fine
Absolutely regarding the seeds. I kept seeding so that everyone maintained the same % as i did , so that if and when a seeder showed up when i was offline ,they’d download new pieces , not stuff I already had.
Heh, pity i was trying out on ubuntu’s default torrent client , Transmission- didnt have many options , tried out loading different trackers using deluge later , but that didnt help much either , and funnily transmission kept getting transfers , so stuck to it.
Yup planning to seed until there arent any leechers left. The world needs more jim reeves fans - they’re literally a dying breed
Its only good for first time bit torrent users.its given as it does not have much options.new users would not get confused with it. it just works but its not the among the best ones. a very basic client
Deluge is good, try Azureus also(classic interface).
