Which Antivirus is the Best?

Hey guys I wanna know wats the status of the virus and wat damage has it wrecked and has any antivirus found its heal?

dude, all virus scanners are capable of eradicating KS worm, read this for more info http://www.techenclave.com/forums/worm-nyxem-e-spreading-fast-raises-65917.html

and why have you named your thread title as best antivirus ?

if your question is about best antivirus, then use search feature, there are many threads on same topic.

also stop using bold tag for everything.

Actually i was conducting a poll but could put all the softwares in the 10 minute time limit which i didnot knew so changed it the topic whole

i read somewhere that kamasutra worm was all hype. is that true.

Yep, only until it infects your own machine though :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Im using OneCare. Its pretty good.I prefer it over Norton.

IMO Kaspersky is the best

CNET says zonealarm is the best.Pitty,The Sify bb dialer wont let me use it.Personally i found it very efficient and less on system resources.Right now im on trend micro pc cilin which was the best last year. Its good but not as good as zonealarm, but still way better than mcafee.

nothing beats kaspersky .. and its closely followed by f-secure. these 2 are the best av s/w.

The tests from http://www.virus.gr are flawed and unscientific. I do not recommend you buy an antivirus based on these ratings. For proper, scientific tests, please see http://www.av-comparatives.org

By the way, All of these AVs are good (grouped randomly):

1)Kaspersky
2)BitDefender
3)Norton (yes, really)
4)McAfee
5)NOD32
6)Dr.Web
7)AntiVir PE Premium (or Free)
8)Panda AntiVirus

hi,

for me the list of best goes somehting like this:

  1. trend micro pc-cillin
  2. mcafee internet security suite
  3. AVG
  4. kaspersky
  5. NOD32
  6. suckiest of all NORTON

Even AV-Comparatives tests says that** Kaspersky is the best of the pack**
http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2005_08.php
And I didnt understand what you meant by Unscientific.AV comparation isnt like calculating exit poll results.it’s just let the av run and see how many virii it detects.

When you make an AV-test, all the infected samples one uses have to be individually verified before it can be used for the test. All harmless samples or damaged files must be removed. The samples used should be 100% functional.

You can read the below thread to see why the tests from http://www.virus.gr are untrustworthy…

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=77033

But yes, Kaspersky is very good at signature-based detection, but their heuristics seems a bit lacking.

BTW, it is requested by AV-Comparatives that no one should link to individual test pages on thier website. Please link only to http://www.av-comparatives.org
