Which Cam: Canon A570IS or Sony W-80?

Hey,
I’ve decided to buy a new Digi cam from the States, and can’t decide between the 2 of them. Feature wise they’re both quite on par if I’m not mistaken, however, the Canon is kinda bulky compared to the Sony which is quite slim, thus making it appealing and portable at the same time.

Or would you suggest some other model?

Getting them for $200 and $230 respectively. I’m not a pro, and I don’t intend to be one either. Just need something that has an above average output, durability and performance all in a “portable” package.

Would appreciate your input, cheers!

P.s. Open to other models as long as they aren’t over the budget or too expensive. I don’t want to stretch my budget over $230, but I guess if it’s really worth it, $250 is an option.

if ur looking for a sleek model in canon at that price range try this it takes pretty neat photos and isnt that bulky either…not as sleek as the sony but can easily be fit into a pant pocket..

or get the canon sd750 from amazon

570IS might not be as sleek. But IMHO it takes much better pics :smiley: I always prefer Canon over Sony in cameras :slight_smile:

IS aka Image stabilisation is a big plus point in the canon

i would recommend canon over sony here.

Sony has the Steady Shot, so there’s no real issue of IS vs SS.

I saw the 570IS and the W80 @ Croma, gosh, the 570IS is so … FAT! Yeesh!

I only have experience with Canon and Sony Prosumer Video Cameras but if that is anything to go by, I’d go with the Canon :stuck_out_tongue:

Theres something called photo quality too :slight_smile: just check out the reviews on steves digicams and compare the 2 :slight_smile: (google for the site)

i would say go for canon..i know it doesnt look very sleek but its not that fat \heavy also.. and the photo quality is really good..
after i got a canon A 720 IS for my uncle ..i compared it with a sony W-35 which my other mamaji owns..and i found that the pics taken by canon had more natural colours..
also my uncle who was afraid that he wont be able to use a high-end A720IS properly as it was his first digicam ..but he was amazed with ease of ..use due to all the image stabilization ,and the anti burr technology and all features..
these things are really helpful cause my uncle’s wife has a tendency of shaking her hand while taking pics..:stuck_out_tongue:
and the face recognition thing is also good ..
these features must also be there in sony..but i think canon camera take more natural pictures..dunno but i just fell in love with the canon…
i would say go for the canon..
