Which CPU fan to buy for my Core 2 Duo?

As i mentioned in this thread:

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/how-to-increase-cpu-fan-speed-85904.html

In summary, My Stock Core 2 Duo fan spins only at 1100 rpm due to Automatic Fan Control due to which the CPU temperature rise to dangerous levels while playing games. The stock fan has 4-pins (4th pin is used to control the fan speed)

Now, i want to buy a good **3-PIN (without fan control option) **CPU Fan which i can use instead of the stock CPU Fan..

So, please suggest a good fan and also confirm if using a third-party fan would resolve my issue (i.e. the new fan should run at full speed).

common guyz…

no replies yet…

I can offer U a Asus Cooler-Crux P5M2-8SB3W for socket 775-runs at 3000 RPM with PWM control - bought it new did not need it- It is Rs. 600 plus courrier.

Thanks for the offer dude but i would prefer to buy it locally.

No suggestions for the fan so far :frowning:

Ohh…yea…Me too looking the same thing..

Any suggestion for the Stock A64 cooler??

Stock cooler for Athlon64 are good enough .. with proper air circulation , ur CPU will barely touch 50c … mine hardly went beyond 45c under full load

can i attach a 120mm fan to stock c2d cooler? :stuck_out_tongue:

It won’t make much difference … coz a friend of mine has a 96mm fan blowing air onto the cooler , and the temp. diff. between his and my CPU at full load over many hours is a max 1-2c :frowning: … its the design of the cooler i think … u need a 3rd party CPU cooler to get better results …

Finally suggest something guyz which ican buy from Delhi?

I have a spare 120mm antec fan…if that can help, lemme know…

Can it be used with my Core 2 Duo CPU?

I’ll talk to my dealer about this issue and let you know if i need it.

actually the stock heatsink has an 80mm fan (or even smaller?)…so fitting 120mm fan on the heasink might be difficult…

not sure what is the fan size for intel core 2 duo’s but amd 64 stock fans are 70 x70 x 15mm.. .so find out the size of your fan and look for replacements.

delta makes fans for amd heatsinks… 10 $ shipped thru ebay US… not sure how much improvement it would be over stock fan ( maybe 1 or 2 degrees )

Guys guys guys! Just disable fan control in the bios!

that dosent increase c2d fan speed from 1100rpm

just disable fan control , i did that and my temps never go beyond 44.
no need for a different fan.

yup disabling fan control is a hoax in my system. It doesn’t do anything.
