1 :Writing your Name On Paper Along with Your TE Username and Clicking Photo
2 :Writing The Date On Paper Along with the TE Name And Clicking Photo
A Better thing would Be Coding the Product with the TE Name and Date Current Walli Using a Marker …

well if you code the product then it cannot be removed right …i wont like that in any product i buy …also the photo is to show that you have the product in your hands

I am not gonna post it all again here. there are 3-4 threads in feedback regarding this. Go through them. And the rules are not becoz someone will steal these images. its there to prove you actually have the product in possession. A small practice commonly observed on most online forums to reduce frauds or misunderstanding between buyer and seller.
the date :: i am assuming you have not seen the kidnapping movies ..you are photographed next to a newspaper showing the date :P…lucky here its only writing a date
Yeah right! Try some of that solution on plastic or a card box box and see what happens!
Whats the big deal, a photo is mandatory anyway, writing your name and date on a paper alongside shouldn’t be too hard . Its actually quite a fool proof way of verifying the product …I’m all for it

Date fool proof’s it that you actually have the product with you in reality at this certain date… Without a date it would be impossible to be certain that you have the product when its listed at TE for a sale…
Its not that hard to understand & really easy to do so…
With the marker & solution to remove the code… well nobody will go out looking for such troubled approach to get the marker out from their product…Its not practical, economical or time worthy ie.
So nothing wrong to have a simple solution which every user can adhere to…

The date is to verify that you are in possession of the trade item and NOT for remembering the date of posting the sale…duh..
Ok, in short about the logic behind the username and the date.
Username is to prove that you have the product with you in your posession. I am sure you agree to it coz you donot have an issue with the pic with the username on it.
Next, the date, the purpose it serves is to provide a means to show that you were in posession of the product in that perticular condition on the mentioned date. I could post a pic which is one year old with my username next to it. How can someone tell the difference??

I didnt get what you wanted to convey with that message. Please correct me if I am wrong but heres what I understood from the above:
You wish to ask if anyone here does take suggestions given by the mods? And wish to have a link to a thread where someone has actually listened to the mods?
But just as a small side note, if one is taking the effort to take a photograph with their usernames handwritten next to the product, I really donot see how writing a date can pose a problem. How much time does it take? 15 seconds or maybe 5 mins if you are really slow with writing?
Seriously speaking, we decided the rules after giving it much thought and discussion. I personally, donot see a reason why anyone should have an objection to it. Its a practical and a very feasible solution that has been proposed. And there are times, when things are done for the overall good. Explaining the exact thought that went behind the same isnt possible to everyone who comes up with a question. Its a matter of perception. However, one doesnt always question why a certain rule was made the way it is right? If everyone trusts us with maintaining this place, I donot see why anyone should doubt us making rules which would in the end make things harmful to others.

This is basically to confirm that the seller actually has the posted item with him. Its to prevent selling of hardware that may have already been sold, or was with the seller at a previous point of time (but not currently). It can also be used to prevent a scammer from attempting to use the same product multiple times (say, on different forums) to dupe unsuspecting buyers.
Ofcourse, there are easy ways to get around this with a little forethought by a scammer; but since it involves so little work on the part of a real seller, it is an accepted practice in forum markets.
Edit: one way to take care of the vulnerability of the current system is, in fact, the newspaper thing mentioned above. but since having a copy of the day’s newspaper isnt the norm any more, it would pose a problem. Maybe a website which generates a random string everyday which is archived. and then you write down the string on a piece of paper and photograph it with the product…

Lol.. No one is explaining the real logic behind writing dates..If there is a scammer selling a product, why not lie about the date as well?? Is there something to prevent me from writing a future date?? Why would anyone want to sell something which isn’t in his possession at the time of the post?
As Grease Monk said, Newspaper would do justice for the date problem.. thats the only way to confirm the date. it is not a question of how much time it takes to write the date, its the necessity of writing it..
How about writing that day’s news headline
unfortunately, the issue with that is we’re assuming everyone gets the same newspaper. they all dont have the same headline on the same day.

everyone who asks this question miss the entire point. Nothing is bullet proof. And we are not trying to make it too hard for the members. These are just simple things. Whats your problem with hand writing a date on piece of paper? Tell me that. And this is not the perfect world. Once in a while a scammer pops up every where. And thats why even these simple rules are there in place.
These simple things do work. Its time proven methodology. We didnt invent it but we have adopted it. A person trying to pull scam will have to do that much more and that puts off 90% scammers out there.
