Windows gets stuck on loading screen

ive been having this problem for sometime now…
at first it didnt happen tht often bt now its happening a bit too much
during the windows xp loading screen (the black one where tht line keeps scrolling)… xp freezes and gets stuck … this happens a lot of times… safe mode is wrking fine..
ive got nod 32 and avast running both cant detect any viruses or such…
i hd this problem on my earlier rig also…
why does this happen… tried googling for it but still couldnt find any fixes
plzz HELPP!!!
cause right now it seems tht my comp just dosent start it just freezes..

I found this solution here, and it seemed to help someone who had the problem you describe:

try to put in you windows xp cd and follow this

  1. xp cd

  2. repair hit r

  3. type fixboot

  4. type y

  5. fixMBR

  6. type y

  7. finish remove cd reboot

dont forget to press enter after each one of this

try booting with a livecd to make sure it isnt a hardware problem
