Winfast NF4XK8MC - BIOS update in WINDOWS ?

hey ppl,
I’ve got the Winfast-Foxconn NF4XK8MC for my bitch rig.. was running the amd 3000+ xp and just switched to my opteron 165..

under my computer properties..this is what it shows me now.. even in the boot screen something similar like this..

amd hammer faily processor - model unknown

samething under device manager-> processor .. and it doesnt show as 2 cpus..

now im assuming i need to upgrade my bios.. i went to the foxconn website and it says i need to do it in DOS via a floppy.. is there any other way in widows to upgrade the bios ??

or is there anyother solution?

p.s. ive loaded the amd cpu drivers as well.. no difference…

Cheers,

try this :

  1. Format one of ur partitions as FAT32 if u dont have any FAT32 partitions.

  2. Make a folder called “test” in it.

  3. Copy the BIOS file and the flashing program file , something called “AWDFL…” to the test folder.

  4. Boot the system using a WIN 98 bootable cd.

  5. Reach the DOS prompt and type in “C:” at the dos prompt.

  6. You should reach the partition with the test folder if have only 1 FAT32 partition else try D: or E: and so on.

  7. Type “CD TEST” once you find the FAT32 partition with the TEST folder.

  8. Now type “AWDFL… BIOS FILE NAME” at the command prompt …mention the extension of the BIOS file as well.

  9. It will ask u if u want to backup the old bios or not and then it will start the flashing process.

I hope this helped

EDIT : and ya u need the latest BIOS from foxconn for the dual core proccies …its mentioned in the BIOS release notes as well …do check it out.
