Winzip 256bit password recovery

Hi All

I have many winzip archives which I have encrypted(256 bit encryption) long ago, and now I have forgot the passwords of the archives.

I have tried:

  1. ZIP Password Recovery 6.2 but it’s paid and doesn’t search over 3-4 length passwords,

  2. PicoZip it’s crap doesn’t works

  3. Many other which uses brute-force which will take thousand years to decrypt.

Is their any good tool that I can use to decrypt. ZIP Password Recovery 6.2 works good for 3-4 which I have tested.

The files are very important and if their is no other option then I have shell out $30 to buy VSPR 6.2 :frowning:

You want to crack 256-bit winzip encryption? Is it 256-bit AES? :open_mouth: Will take some doing I guess :slight_smile: Do let us know what worked :wink:

your best bet is brute force, especially if you can remember a few things about your password, like its approx length (say 6-9)… just need to find a good free program and leave it running for a few days :slight_smile:

Your password is 256 bits? That would be what, about 63 characters long? I doubt you could brute force that in your lifetime if you’re starting without a clue as to what it COULD be. However if you have a clue of what it might be, you could create a password list file using any list creating software and narrow down your brute force attempts.

Heh sorry my bad. Read it wrong. 256 bit AES, not 256 character pw :D.

^^ afaik, cracking 256 bit aes is next to impossible if you forgot the password. I tried once on a winrar file with just a 6 character password (which i knew) and only aes 128bit encryption but wanted to test the so called paid softwares. none of them could crack the password even after 1 day continuous brute force or library method. the permutation combination are just too much for the software to handle it.

just rack your brain till you remember the password. better than putting dollars on so called softwares that cant help. or you can always search for the freeware source of the software :wink:

hm, let’s see if i can recall what the password was, now trying with all possible combination that I have used till date
