You can fetch a Optical cable for Rs. 75 - 100. here in mumbai locally, do not know bout the quality but i have heard it does the job…

You can buy discs of TV shows, as long as they are original/legal versions
I never said it was mate. Just that most of the stuff you get here is pirated , thats all.
I’m using both Coax & optical with my z5500 and haven’t found any difference in the sound quality. (Which is excellent both ways 
)
For optical, i had picked up a cheapo (Rs 200-250) cable. Works good. Would suggest you get that. If you don’t like that it’s not much of a loss.

Buy Philips Optical Cables. They are costing around Rs 800 but it would make a huge difference than the cheap 100 buks cables.
I’m using both Coax & optical with my z5500 and haven’t found any difference in the sound quality. (Which is excellent both ways )

anyway if using PC based sound card does quality improve if go for optical?
and i heard somewhere that optical / coax are stereo only ???
bandwidth of both SPDIF/ TOSLINK cable is ~120mb/s and optical cable has light signal attenuation limits so in case ur cable is >5m go for Coaxial one but just keep it straight.
You can get good quality Optical Cable from MX Electronics. I am sure you will have a dealer of theirs near your place/city. Lookup their catalog from MX Products and get their dealer’s address. I am using their Toslink cable for the last 4 years and have had no issues whatsoever.

If you have the option of Coax, use it. Toslink is actually worse than Coax and this is clearly audible in my main system.
i have both coax and optical… 1..xf- i/o module and the other z5500 …so yea…
i have SPDIF only… optical… no coax connector on onboard sound of my mobo.
anyway i am going to get optical cable and lets see if performance improves a bit…

Coax SPDIF is more precise coz optical loses it due to internal reflections.Coax has no issue .but you have to use good connectors + cable and i mean it.you can hear the difference b/w a 800 bucks and a 2500 bucks cable
And there’s completely NO difference b/w optical and good quality coaxial theoretically..it depends on cable length,usage.
if u have a 5m setup its better to use optical coz optical is not susceptible to EMI noise pickup in case you have a jungle of cables..otherwise Coax FTW
well CPU + LCD + Ext HDD + UPS + Speakers = all cables mess together :S
so distance from z5500 control unit to CPU is hardly 2 mtrs.
now advice which cable to use… getting more and more confuse…
even if i have to go for branded one which brand to go for ?
