Xming X Server for Windows

Okay i know many are using this, but i need some first hand suggestions about this X server for winXP/vista..

Xming is the leading free unlimited X Window server for Microsoft Windows (XP/2003/Vista). It is fully featured, small and fast, simple to install and being standalone native Microsoft Windows, easily transported portable as a Pocket PC X server.

Can someone explain me what will this software exactly allow the enduser to do.

Looks one promising software to try out.

Xming is a port of the X Window System to MS Windows. Its similar to Cygwin/X..

But i’m still waiting for replies from someone who has already used it..:frowning:

I haven’t tried it out but

  1. I think it should be safe to do so. The XServer will be running as some sort of server, not a driver.

  2. It is useful for people who do X Forwarding (I do) and want to be able to do so from Windows (I generally log into an Ubuntu VM when I need to do that).
