Microsoft Windows XP is playing a cool music during installation. It is a pleasant little tune that you’ve probably never heard, unless you were present when Windows was being installed on your PC. After that it’s never played again, unless you know where to look for it.
To hear what you’ve been missing, just follow these:
Make you way to C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images and look for a file called “Title.wma” or possibly “Windows welcome music.wma”.
It is around 2.56Mb in size. Just double click the file and this will open Windows Media Player, or your defaul player and it will proceed to serenade you with a more than 5 minutes music. It’s up to you to repeat it.
CooL!!!
i have installed windows…xp myself more than 20-25 times ..now..but never head this tune b4..maybe ..speakers were off..or sumthin.anyway when is this sound played during installation of windows ?
Hey eazy u tried it on rc1, cause i couldn’t any images folder in P:\Windows\System32\oobe, nor are there any such files in that folder… I’m browsing vista partition thru xp
i think i heard it on one of my older computers where the drivers for onboard sound was already included in windows xp.. actually heard the sound after setup completed or at some stage near the end of the install
No wonder I did not hear it … At that time I am always hitting the ESCAPE key and clicking on EXIT button and trying my best to stop the intro and get to the Desktop and get on with setting up XP
