My E8400 is OCk’d to 3.6 with stock cooler…well with stock cooler my proc is showing 47* in Everest and in Real Temp Core 1 # 43* and Core 2 # 45*C. These are my idle temps
Already applied MX2 TC..
2ndly NO TRUE 120 in the market…can get TRU 90i..but reviews say Hyper 212 is better or rather as same as TRUE 120 and other is the Zalman 9500..
BTW i keep my system 24/7 for dloading and gaming and lil bit of OCking..Not a OCking FAN..wont be 3.0 to 5ghz
Which cooler to go for?
TRU 90i
TRUE 120 (N/A)
CoolerMaster Hyper 212
Zalman 9500
Also Core 1 = 43* and Core 2 = 46* @ 3.6G with stock cooling decent? or something wrong?
Everest shows (using latest version).. Core 1 56* and Core 2 55* and cpu @ 46*..
…Thanks in advance
PS: Sorry if this was supposed to be under Overclocking section..mods kindly move the topic to Overclock.
Ok.. is it necessary to buy retention kit? Wht is it exactly? the platform for installing it or something.. ?? 2ndly..you guys sure Xigmatek is better than TRUE 120 ?? never heard of Xigmatek b4
By default, the Xigmatek comes with plastic push pins like the stock cooler for retaining the HSF on the motherboard. But these are hell to use and also many times do not ensure proper contact with the processor surface thus decreasing their efficiency.
In order to ensure proper contact and also support the huge third party coolers like TRUE 120, a bolt through retention kit is used. This involves using a metal back plate and fixing the h HSF properly with screws. If you want you can buy this kit separately. Xigmatek has its own kit, but you can also buy and use the Thermalright kit that’s intended to be used with the TRUE or some of their other Heat sinks.
As for which is better, the Xigmatek is marginally better than the TRUE120, weighs significantly less and also cheaper at the same time including a high CFM 120mm fan in the bundle.
