The individual airline site themselves (not included in poll becuase maximum 10 options - please state in reply)
Please let me know if I missed out on any significant portal or included any that is no longer serving this purpose.
My own personal choice is Cleartrip because it has the cleanest ad-free portal amongst these and includes almost all the Indian airlines. Also they have a forum where you can post your problem and the owner himself responds to some.
Note: Rediffsearch is not included because it is only a search aggregator and does not book the flights itself.
well i have voted for makemytrip , never faced any problems with them , they are quick sms comes to me as soon as the ticket is booked. never have bad a bad experience with them .
Since i have worked with the IT department of a multinational travelling company, i know what all goes into it. And with proper communication both Yatra.com and makemytrip.com provide good rates and service.
hey has anyone here used travelocity.co.in?? theyr pretty darn good in us.. although i always use individual airline website 2 book my tickets.. but jus wonder if any1’s used it an has any views bout it??
I thought booking via travel sites, we get reduced prices :s because i heard the airlines charge a flat rate, whereas when they give it to an agent, they give it at a reduced rate, and hence the travel agent might sell it at a lower price to the customer.
^^BS
infact.. it costs abt 25-50 bucks more to book from a travel site..
my vote goes or option 11
what i normally do is use the travel sites as a sorta ‘searcher+comparator’
find who offers de lowest rates and book direct from the airlines site.
and for lil bit of not too well known info.. THE CHEAPEST RATES in india are provided by Air India Express.
They have limited connectivity+Bad timings.
But for someone looking to travel say Bombay->Chennai nd a few other similar routes, they have the cheapest rates.. atleast 300-400 cheaper than the next cheapest airline
There have been dozens of time when I have found travel sites Rs. 50-100 cheaper than the airlines sites. And sometimes much more so when there’s a specific credit card promotion offer running. Since I generally check atleast 3-4 travel sites before finalising a booking the one which has the lowest price amongst them is never ever more expensive than the airline site itself.
Been using this for a while now. Over 15 bookings with them over last 2 years. ANd I have not faced a single issue.
I dont rely on any airlines. So I prefer searching for my flights according to time which suits me and book the tickets. For this purpose these travel sites are great as you get all flight data in 1 window.
Air India Express is an International Low Cost airline. Their primary fleet consists of Boeing 737-800’s. There was a merger of Alliance Air & Air India Express, with the alliance air component scheduled to handled domestic operations. however that has not been started as of yet. alliance air are the ones who have the rickety ATR’s.. not air india express. Currently AIExpress offers domestic seats on its international flights that hop through multiple cities like Mumbai->Singapore via Chennai.
frankly to tell you the truth… i dont trust any of them.
The best way to do it is via a good trusted agent or an agency… and believe me i say it from 1st hand experience not as a passenger… but as an airline employee.
